Governor Luis A. Ferrer, Jr. East National High School is located at Brookeside Lane, Brgy. San Francisco, Gen. Trias City. Using a map or GPS, its exact location is at 14°18’38.4” North and 120°54’56.7” East. It is on the right side of the road if one is southbound along Arnaldo Highway, just a few meters past the local Puregold and right beside St. Gabriel The Archangel Parish which is still under construction at the time of writing. Northbound on Arnaldo Highway, the school will be on the left side of the road past the bend after Konnect Hotel and the Brookeside Lane Petron Gas Station.

GLAFJENHS has seven distinct buildings, of which five are used in classroom instruction. Four of these are 2-story buildings while the fifth has four stories. Put together, there is a total of 25 classrooms in the school. There are also two dedicated Computer Laboratories, two Science Laboratories, a Food Laboratory, a Practice House, a library and a garden. These are all dedicated to providing the students with the best learning environments needed for specific subjects.

There are currently 82 teachers in the school serving 3750 learners. To accommodate this learner population, the school operates in two shifts – from 6:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and from 12:30 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. Each class has a population ranging from 70 – 85 students. Though the class size is challenging, the school makes all possible ways for the students to be provided with armchairs and classrooms conducive. The students are also provided Learners’ Materials for their classes as made available by the DepEd, and additional reading materials are in Reading Corners throughout the campus. Additional reference and reading materials are also available at the school library. The Food and Science Laboratories are well-maintained as they are well-utilized in relevant classes. The school canteen also provides healthy food to the students at reasonable prices during recess. There are also more than adequate comfort rooms for the students’ needs. Altogether, these facilities ensure that the students have the best possible learning environment within the school.

Though there is an adequate number of teachers to bring the student-teacher ratio close to 45:1, the need for additional classrooms resulted in near-double class sizes. Despite this, learning is still fostered well within the school as the teachers are all highly qualified, with the majority either taking up or completed a Master’s Degree in Education. Thus, despite the necessity of a two-shift schedule, learners are still given high-quality education without compromise. Teachers plan their lessons well using Daily Lesson Logs or Detailed Lesson Plans which undergo the scrutiny of their Key Teachers. All rooms have LCD TVs, and the teachers maximize the use of these for their visual and even interactive presentations.

Learners' health and safety are also taken into account by the school. GLAFJENHS is taking a sensible and proportionate approach to ensure the premises provide a healthy and safe place for all who use them, including the school workforce, visitors and learners. A safe learning environment is essential for students of all ages. Without it, they are unable to focus on learning the skills needed for a successful education and future.

Governor Luis A. Ferrer, Jr. East National High School may not be the biggest nor most popular school, but the concerted effort of the Administration, faculty, staff, students, parents and community together with the local government, results in a growing, improving and maturing educational institution. As GLAFJENHS continues to garner achievements and recognition in its many fields of endeavor, it always places the students’ learning and well-being as its primary priority.
